Senior Vice President, Strategic Ventures and Ambulatory Operations

Carolyn Knaup serves as Senior Vice President of Strategic Ventures and Ambulatory Operations at WakeMed, where she leads strategic collaborations and joint ventures, physician service agreements, and the organization’s business development efforts. Her areas of oversight include physician relations as well as corporate and community health initiatives. In addition, she is responsible for WakeMed’s ambulatory network, including healthplexes, medical parks, and ambulatory surgery centers.

Since joining WakeMed in 1999, Carolyn has been a key member of the leadership team, playing an integral role in the organization’s growth and expansion into new markets. Her leadership has contributed to the significant development of WakeMed’s ambulatory services and physician practice presence over the past decade.

Carolyn earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from East Carolina University and her Master of Health Administration from Pfeiffer University.
